Sfaktiria Island is a small, uninhabited island located in the Messenian Gulf, off the coast of the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece. It is situated near the town of Pylos and is part of the municipality of Pylos.

The island is known for its strategic location and historical significance, particularly in relation to naval battles and military operations throughout history.

During ancient times, Sfaktiria Island played a role in the Battle of Pylos during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. In modern times, it gained prominence during the Battle of Navarino in 1827, a key event in the Greek War of Independence against Ottoman rule. The Battle of Navarino, fought primarily in the waters surrounding Sfaktiria, resulted in a decisive victory for the allied forces of Britain, France, and Russia against the Ottoman-Egyptian fleet.

Today, Sfaktiria Island is primarily visited for its historical significance and natural beauty. It offers opportunities for hiking and exploration. It is accessible by boat from the town of Pylos on the mainland.
