Sfaktiria

Sfaktiria Island is a small, uninhabited island located in the Messenian Gulf, off the coast of the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece. It is situated near the town of Pylos and is part of the municipality of Pylos.

The Battle of Navarino, fought primarily in the waters surrounding Sfaktiria, resulted in a decisive victory for the allied forces of Britain, France, and Russia against the Ottoman-Egyptian fleet.

Today, Sfaktiria Island is primarily visited for its historical significance and natural beauty. It offers opportunities for hiking and exploration. It is accessible by boat from the town of Pylos on the mainland.
